Thus began our newest adventures which will take a few months to get complete. We have graciously agreed to help him with the few renovations that need to be done.
It is a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom craftsman that was originally 2 bedrooms and 1 bath that was added on to at some time in the 50s.
First order of business was removing all of the Shag Carpet. It was MINT GREEN!! It was, however, protecting the hardwood floors underneath. The windows still have the original poured glass, the original door hardware and transom windows are still in place. It is a restorer's dream. The first room complete is the guest room--or as our grandmother's would have called it--the Front Bedroom. It was a lovely elderly lady shade of mint green with yards and yards of shear drapes, and of course the deep shag carpet. (OH THE STAPLES! OWWW!). We did find small treasures throughout, including the porcelain knob on the closet and the wonderful beveled full length mirror on the bathroom door.
It's is now calm Sherwin Williams Oyster Bay on the walls with Sherwin Williams Ice Cube trim. Beautiful Hardwood floors, and crisp white curtains. We've learned to scour local sale groups for gently used furniture, and flea markets for quilts. We also checked with friends and family that were also re-decorating and were able to get great deals on items like the new 5 blade ceiling fan. The details are what makes this house.
