Saxon Homestead Remodel

Since we completed the renovations to our son's house, I've decided that I need to start working on our house.  I'm sure this will wind up being a 2 year project but 1 room at the time, I'll get there.

It's a red brick rancher built in 1978 so not quite mid century, not quite 80s country.  We have essentially done very little to the house since moving in except have all the olive and gold shag carpet removed.

Since I am now working mostly from home and because it would require the LEAST amount of work, I decided to start with my home office/craft room/workout room.  Several years ago we replaced the shag carpet with good quality stone look sheet vinyl.  I decided to just leave this flooring but the depressing 1978 wood paneling had to be updated.

TA-DA!  Sherwin-Williams to the rescue!

Since I had several Georgia Southern Football related items to display, I decided to paint an accent wall with SW 9150 Endless Sea.  I painted the remaining walls SW6477 Tidewater.

I changed out the switches and outlets to brown decora.  Let me tell you, the 10 gauge wire they used in this house is HARD to manipulate into new outlets.

I had enough of the Endless Sea paint left over to paint both my book cases that same color and we put in a new ceiling fan and made a small extension for my desk.  I decided to leave the trim as is with the dark aged stain.

I have to put on new updated closet doors.  Still trying to find exactly what I want in a bi-fold door that fits.

Overall, I think it turned out pretty good and has become a space I don't mind spending 8 hours a day in.

Next up is the "living room" which we really don't use at all.  Hopefully that will change with this work.
